This blog takes off from the last post I did entitled What's New in the IRRI Library. This is a chronicle of library and non-library activities conducted by this Filipina Librarian after retirement from IRRI.

Marketing Libraries
This is the subject of my presentation tomorrow morning at the ALAP Forum and General Assembly, UPLB Main Library. More than ever before, there is a compelling demand to show the Library's and the librarian's value in this digital age. But how? There are many ways to market libraries but the most effective one is projecting a good image in the community. This is not easy but effective delivery of information service is the best marketing strategy. This, plus having a team of enthusiastic, energetic, and qualified staff who are able to deliver information as needed by clients, would boost the library's position in an organization. Marketing is not a one-shot deal but should be sustainable.
